A serious cycling injury caused by a moment’s distraction
Cyclists are vulnerable road users, and even a brief lapse in concentration from a driver can have serious consequences. In this case, the driver’s attention was diverted by a dog in the car, resulting in our client being knocked off his bicycle.
The impact caused a complex ankle fracture, alongside a significant soft tissue injury to the shoulder. Injuries of this nature can affect mobility, independence, work, day-to-day routine and a person’s confidence getting back on the road.
Laura acted for the client and helped progress the claim through to settlement. The final compensation recovered was £23,500, which included compensation for the injuries sustained as well as related financial losses such as travel expenses and the recovery of private medical insurance costs.
