The Cycle Of Life project.

Recycling unwanted bikes and giving them new life
in communities across Manchester.

What is Cycle Of Life?

What is Cycle Of Life?

The Cycle of Life Project is a community initiative by Two Wheel Claims, created to help unwanted bikes find new homes. We collect donated or abandoned bikes, clean them, repair them where needed and deliver them to people, families and organisations who can genuinely benefit from them.

Giving unwanted bikes a second life

Giving unwanted bikes a second life

Across Manchester, many bikes sit unused, unwanted or abandoned. Through the Cycle of Life Project, we collect these bikes and restore them at our own cost so they can be passed on to worthy nominees.
Some bikes come directly from local residents. Others have been spotted and recovered with the help of postmen, neighbours and people in the community who want to support the project. Once collected, each bike is cleaned, repaired where required and delivered to a new home - recycled in the truest sense.

Where the bikes go

Every bike has its own story. Some have gone to people struggling with their mental health, including ex-servicemen who felt cycling could help them get outside, rebuild routine and feel more independent.
Others have gone to families, children and local organisations. We have replaced a nurse’s stolen bike, supported single mothers who were struggling to afford Christmas presents, provided a bike for a teenage girl helping her shielding grandmother, and donated bikes to children’s shelters, charities and community groups.
  • A stolen bike replaced

When a nurse had her bike stolen outside a care home, the project helped get her back on the road.

  • Christmas bikes for children

Twelve bikes were donated to children in temporary care before Christmas.

  • Supporting families near hospital

Bikes donated to Ronald McDonald House help parents get around while their children are receiving care.

  • Helping local young people

Bikes have also been donated to community groups, including an MMA gym supporting children with very little.
